The Spearfish Arts Center is hosting the 2012 Artists of The Black Hills show and sale. Join us on June 1st from 5-7pm for an Artists Reception. Everyone is Welcome! New art originals by nearly 40 of the Black Hills region's finest artists, featuring 40 signature artists of Artists of the Black Hills in an exciting array of mediums, styles and subjects! Designated artists will be in attendance each day.

A Celebration of Dickens May 20 - May 27
Join with your friends for a 24/7 celebration of Charles Dickens at the Spearfish Arts Center. We will start reading his novels aloud on the Matthews Opera House stage Sunday morning, May 20th at 8:00am and continue non-stop until 8:00am the next Sunday, May 27th – 168 hours of reading!
Reading segments are ½ hour – and it’s only $10 to participate! All funds raised from this event will be used to upgrade the sound system in the Matthews.
There will be refreshments and fun. Come as a group or a family – listen while others read or play games in our fireplace room. Perfect for book clubs, mah jong groups, golf buddies, and youth groups -just about any group you get together with!

Accidental Hero - July 6 & 7 - 7:30pm
Lt. Colonel Matt Konop thought he was just another soldier fighting in WWII. Then a string of jaw dropping coincidences had him liberating the same Czech towns where his grandparents had lived. The Czechs made him a hero, called him their “liberator”, but they actually liberated him, freeing him of his shame of his poor upbringing and connecting him with his identity.
A true story, this one-man show, created and presented by Patrick Dewane-Konop’s grandson, has wowed audiences around the country. This multi-media spectacle features never-before-seen WWII film footage shot by Matt Konop with a home movie camera. It is an uplifting and inspirational story about family, country and a modest manʼs unlikely journey to find himself.

Subscription Series tickets are now on sale. Current Subscribers have until May 15th to purchase and maintain the same reserved seats. New subscribers will have seats assigned after May 15th based on the date that the Arts Center receives the order.The series costs $125 for adults and $60 for youth.

On Wednesday, June 13th at noon, the Bellman Brown Bag Series will feature “Living a Self-Directed Life While Making a Difference in your community” by Dillon Haug. All talks are held in the fireplace room of the Matthews Opera House.

The production dates are July 27th-29th. Children from ages 7 and up are invited to participate; there is no cost for this workshop.
